Hello, darlings. I had the specific adventure of being inspected in a (respectful!) up close and personal way by the TSA at a medium-size regional airport yesterday, and I’m still glowing like my undercarriage did on the security screening device. Here’s that story on Instagram.
I’m finally finishing The White Lotus S2 and the setting put me in mind of a chapter I wrote in my memoir, Agorafabulous!: Dispatches From My Bedroom. The chapter is called “Sicily on Five Panic Attacks a Day.” Here it is for sale on Jeff B.’s site, and here it is on the Bookshop indie site. Sadly, my story does not include some rough trade from Essex consensually effing his alleged uncle in the B, but I did get dosed with a heavy sedative at a Sicilian emergency room when I was 18.
Also, are you tired of thinking about how William Tomomori Fukuda Sharpe (born 22 September 1986) is the most beautiful gentleman currently alive? I know you’ve already discussed, or maybe you focused on Theo James instead (incorrectly, but I agree he IS very hot also.) Really pleased to welcome myself to this year-old conversation. Will Sharpe made at least two kids with the very stunning and probably very talented Sophia di Martino, a half-Italian gal who is a few years his senior, so I feel very seen, known, and indeed personally loved.
Speaking of beautiful people, this is an important photo of Teyana Taylor in Atlanta recently. We are all going to see A Thousand and One, yes? Yes.
This week also including filling out more forms to continue my application for Italian dual citizenship. Governments LOVE a form. Italy especially loves many, many forms. Will it work? Possibly!
A few more recommendations…
On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong - I’m not done with it yet because I need to read a chapter or two at a time and then take a break for a few days. It’s intense and sad and beautiful and upsetting.
Spectrum Honey - My friend Pam’s company! They use local honey in the South Carolina Lowcountry to make CBD-infused treats.
The Writers Lab US - The Writers Lab is the only program in the world devoted exclusively to script and career development for women and nonbinary writers 40+. Applications are due by March 31.
on bell hooks - I dig Mason’s work. Here's one lovely example.Workshops with Francesca Lia Block - I’ve never had Francesca as my teacher, but I love her writing. She teaches a course based on one of her books, and she works privately with students as well.
That’s all for now. New essay coming soon to my Medium, to which you could, if you wished, ALSO subscribe. If you’ve got any questions about writing or other stuff that you’d like me to address here, email saratoninnewsletter@gmail.com. Take good care this weekend.
xoxo

Sara! Surely you've watched Flowers, which Will Sharpe created (and acts in) which stars Sophia? It's dark and hilarious and pretty great. On Hulu or something.
