I work at that very hospital, and I’m currently trying to excise myself from the place, ha ha… I’m glad they took care of you and I always appreciate your takes on things.
It has changed a lot over the years, according to my family and friends who’ve worked there in the past 10 years. Whew. I hope you get to a place that is better for you and your life!
Would you believe that over 20 years ago I visited my brother here (I was in KY with no plans to leave) and I thought “That looks like an interesting enormous hospital.” Fast forward and I end up moving to NYC for 6 years, marry a Southerner stuck in Jersey, and after some more years I end up with an office that literally looks down on the house my brother lived in!
Excellent post. Thank you for sharing your authentic self with your readers. The balance you maintain with your self wether an internal medical condition or external pile of laundry is at equilibrium until it isn’t. Some times a trip to the emergency room is needed to help get the momentum needed for change and healing.
It’s so interesting to really look at how men and women look at things. Women see the state of their homes as extensions of themselves. Men see the state of their homes as someplace that they live. (Broadly generalizing here.) We’re so conditioned to believe that if we don’t take care of something ourselves that we are failing. Meanwhile, a man will just call a cleaning service and call it a day. (Again, broadly over-generalizing, but drawn from my own 51+ years of experience.)
I love your writing, because you always make me think! Hope you’re well and you’re seeing Lincoln the Human evolve as you write.

We are in this together. No Kings. Peace.
