Hi all - Thanks to all SARATONIN subscribers for enabling me to spend time doing what I love - writing random missives full of recommendations (and, sometimes, essays and other stuff).
A very big additional thanks to folks who’ve sent such kind messages recently. I am doing okay and I have much to be grateful for. Taking things one day at a time is always a good move. Sometimes it’s thirty minutes at a time. Sometimes it’s five minutes at a time.
Here are a few things I like or, dare I say, love right now.
Luxe Paws and other animal rescue organizations
by (I’m extremely biased, as I’ve written for the site on and off since ‘08 or something wild like that) byThe Metropolitan Museum of Art - Being a member there fulfills all my childhood From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler hopes and dreams
Atlas Obscura - Oh, how I love this site.
- Shaun Usher’s newsletter is such a damn treat. by - Thank goodness for Mason’s work. Buy his books, too, please!Writers Guild of America East and other unions - Whew. We need ‘em. I’m proud to be a member of WGA and SAG-AFTRA. Speaking of unions…
Zinn Education Project - A great resource for teachers and really anyone interested in carrying on Howard Zinn’s legacy.
AICE - The organizing union at Second City in Chicago and Toronto.
Breathwork for Recovery - Abbie and Nathaniel have been incredibly helpful to me in the past, and instrumental in my new treatment plan for post-traumatic stress disorder. I really encourage you to check out their offerings.
The art of M.K. Komins - They’re my buddy. They’re Philly-based and awesome. They did “Reverse Medusa,” which you’ll see with me below.
Indie bookshops - I just love ‘em. If you can’t get to one in person, you can support them by ordering through Bookshop.org.
Harriett’s Books and Ida’s Books - See above.
Take good care of yourselves, okay? I appreciate you all.
Best wishes,
Sara
