I grew up outside of Philadelphia in the 70s/80s, in a parish that had every single priest in our parish named in the abuse scandal. So, myself, my 8 siblings and literally every single child we attended school with, played sports with and socialized with, were educated by a cabal of predatory sex offenders. Our parents and grandparents were raised in the same circle of abuse. The ripple effect of this abuse on my own family and many of my childhood friends, is mind boggling.

I still have devout members in my family, who tithe and support this sickness and roll their eyes at survivors of this abuse. As a teenager I needed to hear her words. RIP Sinead ❤️

Thank you for sharing this. Your story is a common one, but not spoken of often… The legacy of abuse, the way we are taught to just act as if people we know in our gut are dangerous are in fact, safe.
