Can I ask two Chicago questions? Where is that arboretum? I've only been here about a year and still looking for cool places to just go walk about. And where did you get that shrimp and grits? It looks delicious and shrimp and grits is one of my favorites!

Of course! So you are new as well! The arboretum was the Garfield Park Conservatory. I went to the Chicago Botanic Garden, which is actually outside the city, to see the holiday lights display in June, and it was pretty neat. I'm sure in good weather when it is in full bloom it is awesome. I liked the conservatory for many many reasons and I say go in any weather because they keep the glassed-in part temperature controlled. And the shrimp and grits were pretty good and they were at The Dawson in River West. I don't know if they have shrimp and grits BUT I highly suggest Luella's Southern Kitchen in Lincoln Square for soul food - it is soooo good.

I went to the Chicago Botanical Garden not long after I moved here and it was so nice! So I live near Lincoln Square and I went to Luella's Southern Kitchen last fall. It was super duper good! I've been telling myself to go back - this might be the universe's sign for me to finally do it! I would recommend, if you like burgers, the salmon or shrimp burger from Butcher & the Burger. It's like 2 blocks west of the Armitage Brown Line stop. The burger is amazing and their fries are heavenly. I could talk about Chicago food for... ever. :)
